The Company

meaning was started by Tim Macer in 1993 to improve the standard of computer software training provided to users in the market research community worldwide. For our first ten years, we operated as Tim Macer Services. In 2003 we became meaning.

Our name encompasses our core values, which are:

Our work today

As meaning, we have also expanded our work into project consultancy, documentation services and a broad offer of change management services including technology selection and implementation, process review and whole systems evaluation.

Our practice is guided by methods that focus on organizational learning and individual empowerment, including collaborative inquiry and action research. Apart from our many clients in the UK we also have clients in the USA, Canada and throughout Europe.

Our approach

The company is committed to absolute professionalism in all it does. Our clients benefit from a high degree of personal attention. We aim to be totally flexible and approach each new challenge - whether it is a course, a project, a manual or just a meeting - with freshness, creativity and imagination. Our paramount concern is that our clients are totally satisfied with what we do for them; our aim is always to exceed their expectations. They continue to exceed ours in coming back for more, so we believe that our approach is working for them as it is for us.

meaning and the environment

The company has long sought to keep the environmental impact of its activities as low as possible. We are not perfect yet, and there is always more to do. We do as much of our travel as possible by train, and in central London, we walk. We limit air travel as much as we can. We prefer telecommunications to transport; electronic presentation or delivery of documents over paper and print.

All of the paper we use is from recycled sources and we recycle over 90% of our paper waste. We try hard to reduce all other waste and keep the environmental impact of our business as low as possible.
